Welcome to The Once Lost Wanderer. The name is derived from two poems: Amazing Grace by reformed slave trader John Newton, and All That is Gold Does Not Glitter by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Short Stories

Short Story Collections:

The Complete Stories     by Flannery O'Connor
Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow     by Jerome K. Jerome
Seven Gothic Tales     by Isak Dinesen

Individual Short Stories:

The Gift of the Magi     by O Henry
The Story of the Other Wise Man     by Henry Van Dyke
The Burglar's Christmas     by Willa Cather

Obviously, this is not a list of books or titles, but of authors who wrote short stories published in various collections and titles. For each author I’ll attempt to find their most emblematic or acclaimed collection. I’m open to suggestions on that point.

  1. Here's a few, but they are based on my personal tastes. I don't know how acclaimed they might be. You have some great authors:
For Esme - With Love and Squalor by J. D. Salinger; The Turkey Season by Alice Munro; A Voice in the Night by Steven Millhauser; Here We Are by Dorothy Parker. Hemingway, Hawthorne and Melville all have a bunch - not sure I could pick just one.

    1. Thanks Dale. I'll keep those in mind.
